azoreswhatelse 🇵🇹As baleias-piloto-tropicais (𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘳𝘩𝘺𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘴) têm sido avistadas em vários dos nossos passeios ao longo deste verão.
Normalmente, são encontradas a descansar tranquilamente à superfície, em grandes grupos e, por vezes, permanecem perto do barco durante bastante tempo. Isto proporciona-nos uma experiência bastante diferente dos encontros com outras espécies de golfinhos mais enérgicas que vemos com mais regularidade.
Contudo, ontem estavam definitivamente em movimento!
Encontrámo-las em ambas as saídas, a deslocarem-se ativamente em conjunto e a proporcionar-nos uma perspetiva diferente desta fascinante espécie.
Mais uma prova de que os animais no seu ambiente natural podem sempre surpreender-nos! 🖤
🇬🇧 Short-finned pilot whales (𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘳𝘩𝘺𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘴) have been seen on several of our trips throughout this summer.
Usually, we find them resting calmly at the surface, often in large groups and sometimes remaining close to the boat for quite a while.
This makes for a very different experience from encounters with the more energetic dolphin species we commonly see.
Yesterday, however, they were definitely on the move!
We encountered them on both of our trips, actively travelling together and giving us a different perspective on this fascinating species.
Another example of how animals in their natural environment can always surprise us! 🖤

azoreswhatelse A beautiful, fat, and delicious Bigeye Tuna caught on Azorean waters it's something very special.
And in my opinion, can only be paired with one of Pico Island best wines.
My chiice was an amazing "Verdelho" 2018 from "Insula Vinus", made by the master Paulo Machado.
One of my favourites wines from the Azores, this 2018 shows us that, if done properly, Pico wines can stand the test of time, and evolve to become something even more special.
What a glorious "volcanic" meal.
Eat, drink and be happy my friends...🌊
